Karibu
A pocket Swahili phrasebook for the East African coast — built to work offline, wherever you are.
Swahili (Kiswahili) is the lingua franca of East Africa — spoken across Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and beyond. It’s remarkably unified: most phrases here are identical wherever you go. The region toggle adds the local flavour where it differs — a Kenyan matatu is a Tanzanian daladala; casual greetings shift from town to town.
Pick your region up top. Tap a phrase to hear it, and the ☆ bookmark to save it for offline. Most spelling is read just as it looks — stress almost always lands on the second-to-last syllable (ka-RI-bu, a-SAN-te).
This is an early build (v0.3). The Swahili here is carefully written but still pending review by native speakers. v0.3 adds a practice mode — flashcards and a quick quiz — on top of scenarios and coastal customs. Asante for your patience.
